Girls Soccer Playoffs on Friday

Last Friday, at the Atlas tube Centre in Belle River, our Lady Card faced two tough opponents in their quest to make it to the Finals in the WECDSB 'A' Division schools soccer playoffs.

In the first game against St. John Vianney, our Lady cards put up an amazing fight.  Our defence was solid and our offence even more impressive.  The team took of like a rocket with Jessica Doll hammering home a lovely cross from Mykaela Everitt.  Soon after the score was tied at 1-1, but the team's confidence remained unrattled. By half time, the girls had a 3-1 lead with goals by Mykaela Everitt and Alexis Constantin. In the second half, the team never looked back, they continued to play great D and continued to apply pressure with Mykaela Everitt popping in 2 more goals to seal the deal with a 4-2 win and the team moving on to the next round against a very talented team in Notre Dame.

In the second game, Mykaela Everitt got the ball rolling again with a quick left foot strike to the bottom righthand corner of the net.  Then Alexis Constantin sent a nice corner pass into the top of the box for Lily Jas who hammered it home.  Notre Dame came back with a tally of there own, and then Mykaela pushed the lead back up to 2 with another beautiful ball into the opposite corner of the net.  Before the end of the half the Wildcats would strike again and the Lady Cards held on to a 3-2 lead going into the half.

After a spirited pep talk at half, the Lady Cards flew out in the second half wearing down the opposition with consistent pressure and accurate striking from Cristina Charles launching one into the top left corner and Mykaela hammering home another 2 goals to polish off another great team win for the Lady Cards with a 6-3 win.

Over the course of the 2 games, there is a special shout out to McKenna DiFazio, Simone Duhanaj, Cristina Charles, and Ellie Voakes for their amazing D and to Lily Estephan for being great between the pipes.

So congratulations to our Lady Cards Soccer team, who will be advancing and playing in the school board finals on Tuesday after against St. William. Best of luck and keep up the hard work.
