MONDAY ANNOUCEMENT Nutrition Challenge

Hey Cards...It is Nutrition Month. We are implementing the HEALTHY EATING CHALLENGE. The goal is to have healthy lunches for the month of March and beyond. If you have a healthy lunch...fill out a ballot in front of Mr. Adams' room--15 during the week. On Friday afternoon, we will pick a winning ballot announce the winner of a Card to subway.

Nutrition Month

The month of March is Canadian nutrition month. Over the course of the month, Mr. Adams' class will be posting healthy announcements and posters to help promote healthy eating in our school.

Over the next month let's aim to make more healthy choices.

When students and staff in a school are getting active and eating healthy food there are not just benefits for our bodies. It can help us help us do better in school and make us feel better about ourselves. Being a healthy school is good for our body and our minds!

Badminton

There will be a Grade 8 Badminton practice on Monday after school. You must have shorts, shirt and shoes. See you there!

Basketball Teams

On Thursday, March 3rd we will be hosting the WECDSB Junior basketball Tourney. Any members of any of the CCMS basketball teams interested in helping out...there will be a meeting in Mr. Adams' room today at 12:30. If you want to help out... you must be there.

House Leagues

No house leagues today because of  the I-Climb. House leagues are back on Friday with Grade 7 Badminton.

Boys Basketball

On Monday, the CCMS boys basketball team made their way to the University of Windsor to compete in the playoff final 4.  The semi-final game would feature our Cards pitted against St. William.

CCMS seized control early on, gaining a slim advantage for most of the 1st quarter.  The lead would grow to 8 points early in the 2nd, but the foul number would escalate, and a number of turnovers late in the half would cut the lead back to 2 at halftime.  

The 2nd half was a battle, and neither team could manage to jump ahead by more than 3 points for the rest of the game.  In the final minute, the Cards jumped ahead on layups by Moose and Brayden.  With 20 seconds left, however, St. William would find one of their shooters deep beyond the 3-point arc, and he would knock it down, to get them back in the lead.

Our Cardinals would get the ball back, however, with their own chance to win it, but a valiant attempt by Malcolm, who tried a lay-up down the lane, would not fall, and St. William would prevail.

Leading the way for our Cards in the loss was the intense defense and scoring of Noah B.  Also contributing points for CCMS was Malcolm, Moose and Brayden.

The coaches were very proud of the efforts of the boys.  It was a tough loss, but a great journey.

There will be a team meeting at 12:20pm today in Mr. Ballard's room.
