Boys Soccer at SJV

Yesterday afternoon, the CCMS boys soccer team traveled to St. John Vianney for a Riverside soccer battle.

In the 1st half, the boys had a tough time matching the energy that the home side was exhibiting, and found themselves down 3-0 going into halftime.

The Cardinals would settle down in the second half, however, and begin to shift the momentum.  Battles were won and passes finally started to find teammates.  CCMS would eventually find the net as David F. booted home a cross from Tyler B.

Moments later, Brodie had a glorious chance to get the Cards within 1, but the Stars goalie came up big with a save on the short side to keep the 2 goal lead intact.

The game would finish 3-1 for SJV, but our boys gained some confidence, heading into the playoffs.

Girls Soccer Game

Congratulations to the girls soccer team who made the trip out to St. William last night and with a solid team effort came up with a 2-0 victory to remain undefeated this season.  Goals scorers were Emma Riccardi and Gracie Taggart, who were able to tingle the twine with two solidly struck shots that filled the back of the net. There was excellent team defence and the shutout was preserved by Ireland Toohey and Julia Jopek.  The team will continue our practices at 8:00 am tomorrow.

Boys Soccer game at St. William

The Cardinal Boys soccer team travelled out to Lakeshore yesterday for a tilt with St. William.  Despite the fact that the team was missing several key members, they competed hard, and controlled play for most of the game.

Zach B. was an offensive monster recording the 1st ever CCMS boys hat trick, But St. William would eventually tie it up at 3.  Brodie B. showed up just in time to put us ahead again, 4-3, but the Cougars would answer back with an equalizer and get the go ahead goal with about 2 minutes left.

Next up for the boys is a date with Riverside rivals St. John Vianney on Wednesday afternoon.
