Boys Playoff Soccer

Yesterday afternoon, our CCMS boys soccer team, ventured out to Lasalle to compete in the WECDSB playoffs.

The quarter final match-up for our boys would pit them against Holy Cross.  As play began, and both teams struggled to gain advantage, ball position was mostly in the midfield area.

Midway through the 1st half, the Huskies would strike first though, as a powerful strike found its way past Alex J., into the top of the net.

The Cardinal boys fought on, however, and made it their mission to tie it up in the 2nd half.  The rain was driving, but so were our boys, and they eventually nodded the score at 1, when Andrew P. found a seam, and booted the ball off the right post, into the Husky net.

The 2 teams would play even the rest of the way, and extra time wouldn't settle a thing, so off to the shootout they went.  Only 3 shots apiece would be needed, as our boys got great tending from Alex and scored on their 1st 3 attempts, 1 from Andrew, 1 from Zack, and the game clincher from Marko.

The semi-final game, the second of the day, found our Cardinals matched up with Cardinal Carter Middle School.  It was a tough one, and our boys ended up dropping it 5-0, but played with great courage and sportsmanship.

Congratulations on a great season boys.  You made CCMS proud.
