2. Congratulations to the chess team. Yesterday they put up their skills against the best of the city and did awesome. They should great dedication and hard work throughout the year. The members of the team are:

Monday Announcements

1. Olympic Update.. Our Canadian team was awesome. With a final total of 29 medals, we finished third overall... a great accomplishment. Let us continue to always have pride in our country moving forward and always respect the flag when we hear our morning announcements.
2. Chess team practice today..All members must be there to go over the final things before the tournament. Check out your google classroom for information.
3. Students in Grade 8 interested in playing badminton... the season will begin next week. Listen to announcements for practices. There will be a meeting Friday at Lunch.   
4. Black History Month Fact... 

Ferguson (Fergie) Arthur Jenkins is one of Canada's most celebrated baseball players. Jenkins, who played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.

Announcements

1. Olympic Update.. After another great night, we have moved up to second place overall in the world behind Norway with 27 medals..a new Canadian record.  Only a few days left, so be proud of our Canadian team.
2. Chess team practice today..All forms must be in.
3. Last night with ticket prices going for $500, there was great anticipation for the Cardinal game vs. Notre Dame. Fire marshals were called to the Coliseum because of the overcapacity crowd of 20004 screaming fans crammed in the building. The 2 teams battled like fierce warriors with a defensive battle for the ages. In the end, the fighting Irish prevailed by a couple of buckets. Mr. Palamides and Mr. Adams are very proud of the effort of this team. They were a pleasure to coach. Thanks for a great season.  
4. Black History Month Fact... 

Although born in Jamaica, Donovan Bailey emigrated to Canada as a teenager. He is one of the country's most highly decorated track athletes and once held the world record for the 100-metre sprint. He won three world championships and two gold medals at the 1996 Olympics.

1. Olympic Update..With more medals yesterday, Canada's  medal count has moved up to 24 medals.only 1 medal from Germany for second place behind Norway. Only a few days left, so enjoy our Canadian pride.

4. Black History Month Fact... 

Howard Douglas McCurdy Jr., a storied civil rights activist for Windsor and Canada, and a "true example of Black excellence," has died at the age of 85. Please keep his family in your prayers.

1. Olympic Update..After another Golden day...Canada continues to dominate at the Winter Olympics.. The medal count stands at 20 medals now with many other potential ones to come. Women vie for the hockey gold tonight.

4. Black History Month Fact... 

Surely you know that Halle Berry was the first African American to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Monster's Ball.

1. Olympic Update..After a 3 Gold day...Canada continues to shine at the Winter Olympics..With 8 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals we are standing at third overall with 19 medals. Way to go Canada!

5. Black History Month Fact... Black History month is celebrated in February because both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were born in February.

Announcements

1. Chess Team there is a vital meeting today to confirm our entry to the Chess Tournament on February 28th. You must be here.
2. Wow what a game. 18 925 fans jam packed into the CCMS Coliseum to witness the most exciting basketball game in CCMS History. Down by 7 and by 5 on a couple of occasions, the Cardinals rallied behind their stout defense and hit some key shots in defeating LAD. They proceed next to the Elite 8 with a game here next Thursday. Players check Google classroom for the schedule for the week.
3.  Olympic Update..We are still at a solid 13 medals right now...With both our hockey teams pulling out victories. Keep rooting on our home team we go against the best in the world.
4. Looking for something to do this weekend?... Take a trip down to Amherstburg to The Amherstburg Freedom Museum in Ontario  to learn more about African-Canadian history.
