Boys Basketball

It was a long wait, but for the CCMS grade 8 boys basketball team, the first home game of the season couldn't have come at a better time.

Yesterday afternoon, our boys hosted Holy Cross in a playoff match-up with a berth in the final 4 on the line.

Our boys took control right from the start, playing with an energy that the visitors just couldn't match.  The Cards dominated the paint on both ends of the floor and jutted out to a 10 point lead at the end of the first quarter.

The intensity increased in the 2nd, as the Cards applied the full court press.  Play went up and down the floor at a rapid pace, and our 8's forced a number of turnovers in the process.  This led to more and more fast-break points and a half time lead of 32-12.

With control of the game, the Cards called off the dogs in the 2nd half and relied on gritty defense and an efficient offense to keep the upper hand.

When the final buzzer sounded, our boys walked off with a loud quarter-final win and a date at the University of Windsor on Monday.  Leading the scoring for our Cards was Brayden, Moose, Noah B. and Malcolm, while the rest of the cast played tough D all night long.

Thanks goes out to Mr. Laporte and Mr. Adams for officiating the game.

Great work boys.  Practice tonight after school.
